Last night’s impromptu dating assistant planned date…

Some time in the afternoon I asked our dating assistant Holly to plan an impromptu “something for us to do” last night.

Coming from JC and BK to do yoga in the UES, then head to a dive in midtown may not seem like much of an ‘adventure’ to most, but all of that running around and not having known we’d be doing it when we woke up in the morning was kind of fun!  

Why wouldn’t we just do yoga somewhere closer to our apartments/office, or get drinks around the yoga studio? We don’t know! We do what Holly says when we give her control of the date.  (The best part is that I’ve actually actively avoided doing yoga with Aaron because I get self conscious. Leave it to Holly to force me to finally do it.)

And so, we went from the sweaty of the sweatiest dates to the divey of the diviest bars (which I actually don’t think you should do after Bikram… *shrug*).  It was fun, we were into it, and thank god for emergency leotard in my office locker.

For budgetary as well as just ‘life happens’ type reasons (like not really having the time to go on dates and instead just spending our time de-stressing and relaxing at home), we had phased out our dating assistants some time after the summer.

But Bianca recently woke up one day wanting to text Holly to ask Aaron if he could go on a date that night… making her realize how much she missed having a dating assistant (and also that she was sick of letting their schedules get between them).

So Bianca updated* her last job request and rehired Holly.

Aaron’s dating assistant, Brenndon, featured in this weekend’s NY Post! We love that a silly idea that we had was able to spark a career for someone. #creatingjobs!!

The self-proclaimed “secretary of romance” didn’t seek out this career — it found him. In May, Knox was browsing Craigslist in search of part-time work when he saw a posting by Bianca Caampued and Aaron Small, a couple searching for a “date planner.” Knox’s application — which included his professional résumé, three date ideas and a questionnaire for the couple to fill out — impressed them. Knox was determined to turn it into a calling.

Aaron pulled through with the airline miles, and hopefully Bianca can pull through with getting into the festival despite our lack of passes.  

Having no plan and gaining entry/backstage or VIP access at music things is sort of Bianca’s favorite game.  Bianca’s crazy trip to SXSW in which she only booked a one-way flight with no place to stay, and ended up riding back on a prison bus turned tour bus with two bands was sort of a bonding story on our first date.  Aaron had some similar traveling stories, though more of the international backpacking kind than the music festival kind.  Oh hey, you like just doing things with no plan and just seeing where it goes?! SAMESIES.  Something about setting yourself up for failure and having to work your way out of it.

At any rate, there will always be the parties and the after-parties to be had.

Bonus surprise: Bianca’s dating assistant is driving in from Wisconsin to meet us!  We’re meeting Holly! Yeah!
